Senator English Convenes Task Force on Technical and

Workforce Education

Under the authority of ACT 951, Senator Jane English and 15

others as determined by the law held their first meeting on August 22. Senate Bill 441, sponsored by Senator English, became law as Act 951 during the 2017 legislative session. It’s purpose is TO CREATE A LEGISLATIVE TASK FORCE TO REVIEW TECHNICAL AND WORKFORCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND RECOMMEND WAYS TO ALIGN THE PROGRAMS TO PRODUCE AN EFFICIENT, TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED TECHNICAL AND WORKFORCE EDUCATION SYSTEM. You can download the law by clicking on the on the subtitle given above. The taskforce met in the Capitol with the 16 members in attendance as well as several guests. Task force members related their difficulty in finding qualified employees. Each were committed to the goals of the Task Force and to working together and will all parties to recruit and train Arkansans to fill existing positions and to supply the labor force needed for growth in the state.
