February 2019
Hello Texas Pro Rodeo Circuit,
Please check out our Facebook page when you are online. We have been hi-lighting our top stock and qualifiers to the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo and will have coverage from Kissimmee when we are there in March. It also shares results from Texas Circuit rodeos and stories about our members throughout the year. It’s worth a look!
There were several very close races in the Texas Circuit Year End standings for 2018 – with some not being decided until the last steer was run. While this is exciting for the spectators, I’m sure the contestants would prefer to have the title wrapped up before they come to Waco – or at least before the final performance! A few did just that and carried their year-long momentum into the Finals Rodeo and won the average title, as well: Tilden Hooper in the bareback riding, Clay Smith in the team roping (heading) and Cole Melancon in the bull riding. Once again, the Texas Circuit Finals Youth Rodeo was a success and it continues to grow. This year showed the addition of junior and senior bareback riding. Each day was full of action that

carried over to the Circuit Finals performances at night where the top youth contestants competed in a bonus round with a $500 scholarship to each of the winners. Events that were not showcased during the Circuit Finals performances held a bonus round following their event for the $500 scholarship. Thank you to Tony and Kelly Reina for managing this event and to all the volunteers who helped make it a success.
Our Texas Circuit Contestants that also competed at the 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas were recognized during the opening ceremonies of Saturday night’s performance.

The National Circuit Finals Steer Roping will be held April 26-28, 2019 at the Goshen County Fairgrounds in Torrington, Wyo. The year-end circuit champions and circuit finals average champions in the seven PRCA circuits that have steer roping qualify for the NCFSR. In addition, the second-, third- and fourth-place finishers in each circuit’s year-end standings qualify to compete, for a total of five contestants per participating circuit. The format at the NCFSR includes six full go-rounds, with the top eight in the average advancing to the semifinals. The top four in the semis then compete in the four-man finals for the national circuit championship.
Trevor Brazile receives a Montana Silversmith buckle and Tod Slone saddle for winning the Year End Championship in Steer Roping.
Please thank our saddle sponsors when you cross paths with them. We are fortunate to have them.

Tiedown Roper, Blane Cox, wore #18 at the 2018 Texas Circuit Finals.
Barrelman, Mark Swingler, did his best to teach the crowd some fire safety tips. (Disclaimer: it may be better to do the opposite of what he says.)
