VII. COMPANY STANDARDS

COMPUTER SYSTEMS & ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS

Access to computers and electronic communications systems, e.g., e-mail and voice mail, is provided so that team members may perform their work effectively and efficiently. However, team members who use such equipment and systems should be aware that the Company has the right to randomly inspect company property, including such equipment and the information/data contained within. In addition, electronic communication systems may be accessed and monitored by personnel who are responsible for administering and maintaining the system. This right of access is necessary for system management and maintenance. Management reserves the unqualified right to access all computers, e-mail, and other electronic files at any time, with or without notice to the team member. There should be no expectation of privacy in the Company’s property. Appropriate Communications: In general, team members should exercise the same restraint and caution in drafting and transmitting messages via electronic communications as they would when writing a memorandum or letter and should assume that someone other than the intended recipient may review their message. Communication with Residents and their Family: Whenever possible, communication with a resident or their family by the community should be in person or through a telephone call. Email communication is permitted only by a Spring Arbor Department Manager. Texting by any team member to a resident or family member should be a last resort communication approach and be approved in advance by a Department Manager. The Company Internet and electronic communications access may not be used for transmitting, retrieving or storing any communications of a defamatory, discriminatory, abusive, profane, or harassing nature, or materials that are obscene or X-rated. This includes messages transmitted to and/or from cellular phones. No messages with derogatory or inflammatory remarks about an individual’s race, age, disability, religion, national origin, physical attributes, sexual preference, or gender identity shall be transmitted. Inappropriate Communications: The Company takes no position on your decision to participate in social networking activities. However, it is the right and duty of the Company to protect itself from the unauthorized disclosure of confidential and proprietary business information and trade secrets. Confidential and proprietary business information and trade secre ts include resident information, operating plans and budgets, strategic business plans, Company systems and processes, and other similar types of sensitive business information. Bloggers and commenters are personally responsible for their commentary on blogs and social networking sites. Bloggers and commenters can be held personally liable for commentary that is considered offensive, inflammatory, SOCIAL NETWORKING
