XI. SAFETY AT WORK

SAFETY - IT’S UP TO YOU

We aim to provide a safe place to work, but safety comes from the effort of all our team members upholding our values. As a team member, it is your responsibility to help maintain a safe work environment and be dedicated to the idea that every accident can be prevented. Maintaining a safe work environment is key to keeping the residents, other team members and you safe. In order to have a safe environment, we expect each team member to follow these safe working practices: 1. Follow corporate/community/departmental safety policies and procedures. 2. Recognize, correct, or report any unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, or injuries to your supervisor as soon as possible. 3. Running or horseplay in the community is prohibited. 4. Keep your work area orderly and clean. Such as, cleaning spills, closing doors and cabinets, and keeping electrical cords out of the way. 5. Team members are restricted from using cell phones and other handheld electronic devices while driving. 6. Do not attempt to lift or move heavy residents, materials or awkward loads by yourself. Use assistance or a lifting device for all residents who require it. 7. Wear all personal protective safety equipment required by your job. Ex. non-skid shoes, goggles, gowns, gloves, etc. 8. Limit jewelry and length of fingernails per established policy. 9. Follow all established exposure control safety policies and procedures when necessary. 10. Never operate community equipment or machinery unless trained and authorized to do so. All safety guards must be kept in place. In general, always be alert for ways to avoid or prevent accidents and improve safety for yourself, your co-workers and our residents. You are insured for on-the-job injuries by Workers’ Compensation, without cost to you. You are responsible for reporting all occurrences of accidents and injuries immediately to your supervisor, or other member of management if your supervisor is unavailable. Information regarding medical providers is governed by each state’s Industrial Commission: EMPLOYEE SAFE WORKING PRACTICES WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
