She grew up in Kitimat & her first novel On Monkey Beach received the Ethel Wilson fiction prize in 2001. This week we recommend Son of Trickster, the first novel in a planned trilogy. It is a coming of age story of an indige- nous male teenager in northern BC. This novel has been shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. The Hazelton Community Concert Band rehearsals are every Sunday evening at 7PM. We use the upstairs of the Mtn View United Church next to Wrinch Hospi- tal.
