Capital Project Description: The Frederick County Sheriff ¶ s Office is required by the State of Maryland to issue all Maryland Uniform Complaint and Citations using E-TIX software developed by the Maryland State Police. The software also allows the Sheriff ¶ s Office to print out warnings, equipment repair orders and accident exchange forms. The hardware used in conjunction with the E- TIX software includes a printer, scanner and mounting hardware. The majority of the Sheriff ¶ s Office current E-TIX hardware was purchased in 2011 and is approaching 10 years of service, long past the life expectancy of printers and scanners. In addition to the age of the equipment, environmental factors such as heat, humidity, dust and vibration also play an important role in the equipment ¶ s longevity. The Sheriff ¶ s Office is beginning to experience numerous failures of the E-TIX hardware.
