Capital Project Description: Limited Renovation projects provide a plan for renovating schools that have a current Facility Condition Index (FCI) value of 30 or more, or will exceed 30 by the year 2028, and are not in need of additional capacity based on projected enrollment. A FCI over 30 indicates that a facility is in need of either replacement, major renovation, or upgrade to major building systems. In FY21, a study is proposed for four schools for space, adequacy, utilization, circulation and conditions of the building systems. The schools are Lewistown ES, Thurmont ES, Emmitsburg ES, and Wolfsville ES. All are considered as good candidates for limited renovation projects. Limited renovation projects will enable FCPS to upgrade building systems, potentially right-size educational spaces, increase building utilization, and improve efficiency. It is expected that these improvements will decrease energy and operating costs. Once the study is complete, FCPS will establish a priority, and schedule for the projects identified in future years of the CIP. Limited Renovation projects are anticipated to be completed during summer months and may be phased over several years.
