Whiskey: American

BUCK KENTUCKY Kentucky Straight Bourbon #436218 / 750ml / $23.99

Buck is matured for a minimum of eight years in new American oak casks under the intense Kentucky sun. As a result of this maturation process the bourbon has a caramel color, along with an aroma of vanilla, dark fruits, crème brûlée and honey. Notes of cherries, maple syrup, waffle cones and wood spices on the palate lead to a finish accented by touches of caramel, charcoal and cocoa. The wood adds a soft and sweet texture, while the spice really integrates well with the grain flavors. This is another fantastic addition to the domestic market and should find a place in many a whiskey drinker’s heart. Buck drinks like an 8-year-old should and is well-priced. 91pts Beverage Testing Institute Double Gold Denver Int’l Spirits Competition ‘13

Named American Craft Distiller of the Year by the Wizards of Whisky in 2014 and “Innovator of the Year” by Whisky Magazine, Corsair is a small-batch, hand-crafted spirits company making“just a few cases at a time”.Their ethos—While many artisanal brands have tried to imbue their products with a sense of advanced age—connected to a purportedly ancient family recipe—Corsair’s guiding spirit has been unabashed youthfulness. A Corsair whiskey is almost always a year old or less with no age statement. These are whiskeys made for an adventurous drinker, not a brown liquor beginner. Triple Smoke American Straight Malt Whiskey #433466 / 750ml / $38.67 Three fractions of malted barley, each smoked by a different fuel – cherry wood, peat, and beech wood – craft this deeply complex whiskey. Pot distilled then barreled in new charred oak, Triple Smoke has the sweetness and barrel notes of an American Whiskey and a single malt’s rich smoke, broadened by tones of cherry and beech.
