JOHNNY MAC

The JohnnyMac FanClub was founded in 1985 by John D.McDonald (AKA Johnny Mac). Its purpose is to "uphold all school policies while maintaininga senseof high spiritedness." Membership is open to those "willing to drop their guardand allow themselves to be used in making others smile." The only requirement is that members possess the ability to have fun. This "Fan Club" was originally a practical joke but when membership reached 100. it was made an official club on Oct.8. 1985. Johnny Mac graduated in May of '86, but theclub, itspurpose, and theneed for unity among students stillexits. There are currently over300members. Theclub remains active promoting spirit and athletic events. KARATE The KarateClub is anew clubon campus which originated from the Japan-Karate- Do organization here inSan Diego. The main objective is to convey the history of Karate and the discipline of the art. Several black belts teach the art, one of which is our president. Debbie Lance. Now a law student here at USD, she represented theUnited Statesin a Karate competition in which she won a gold metal. The Karate Club will hold in­ t er co l l eg i a t e tournaments and ex ­ hibitions, and continue to work towards forming a successful teamhere at USD.
