VOLLEYBALL

The1986 Volleyball season was a dis­ appointing one for the University of San Diego as the Torera Volleyball team finished the season with a 0-21 record. Individually for the Toreras, Gina Trapletti led the t am in killswith 172 and digs with 170. A four-year starter for USD, Gina palyed every point f every match for three straight seasons. She leaves USDas the school's all-time leader in kills and digs since USD began playing NCAA Division I volleyball. Several other players had someim­ pressive numbers. Sophomore Leisa Hagen finished the y ar with 36 killsfor a 0.75 per game average. That wasgood enough to lead the W st Coast Athletic Conference. USDfinished seventh in the WCAC. The team's only other senior, Jennifer Long, was tops in blocking with29. She was moved to middle blocker halfway through the season due to injuries. The young team loses two players to graduation and will return five players whowere starters at the beginning of the season.
