WOMEN'S BASKETBALL The1986-87 basketballseason held a lot of promise forthe USD Toreras. The squad came off its best seasonever with virtually everyone back,including four starters. Add to that seven more new players andthe reasons were obvious for Coach Kathy Marpe's optimism. Back for the Toreras this year was guard Julie Evans. Joining her were f e l l ow s t a r t e r s c e n t e r K e l l i B e h r e n s , f o r w a r d C a t h y O ' B r i e n a n d guard Debbie Sinopoli (redshirted).Also back was juniorKaren Skemp. The top newcomer was guardJane Gilpin. She was redshirted last season after transferring from Penn. State.Gilpin gave the team another strongoutside shooter. The other sixnewcomers were fresh­ men: forward Cathy Perkins,guard C a n d i d a E c h e v e r r i a , g u a r dP a u l a Mascari,forward Christi English,guard/ forward Meg Estey.andcenter Michele Willard (redshirted).
