A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAPLAIN
Mike Hardee
W e are pleased that several chapters have now appointed a Chapter Chaplain who serves the needs of their membership and is actively working with the National Board Chaplain. Our hope is to continue developing a national network of volunteers who serve in this capacity. The need for us to unite in a spiritual way is so particularly important today. Connecting all Chapters’ Chaplains with the National Office Team will bring support to those in need more efficiently, unite us in thought and prayer, and bring us closer together in times of celebration and in times of need. The Chapters’ participation is voluntary, but our hope is that our network is large enough to serve the needs of the entire FBINAA. In March of 2022, we announced the creation of the FBI National Academy Associates’ Spiritual Leadership Network (SLN). • Responding more immediately to our members and their families on a local level in time of need and sending condolences when one of our own Chapter members has passed • Attending promotional and graduation ceremonies when called upon • Attending births and birthdays or other celebrations the Chapter might support. • Attending workshops, training, and monthly meetings with the National Board Together we can build a strong and caring network that can better serve the spiritual needs of our membership. If your Chapter has someone that is now or may in the future serve in this capacity and may want to take part in the SLN, please tell us or click the link below for the application. All applications will be reviewed by the National Board for approval. We hope all of you will take part in this wonderful initiative, by supporting a member who is interested in serving your Chapter in a spiritual way to make it a meaningful resource Note: Any applicant must be endorsed by his or her Chapter in order to apply. For more information contact our National Board Chaplain Mike Hardee at 904.463.2657 or mhardee@fbinaa.org. A Holiday Season For many of us the month of December is not just a season of giving gifts but also a spiritual season where we celebrate our blessings with family and friends. The term holiday is a euphemism for “holy days.” There are several references of such holy days in the Bible, the first of which is the Sabbath. In Genesis 2:1-3 we read that God created the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day He blessed it and made it holy. The seventh day, Sabbath, is a holy day of rest. Another example is found in Leviticus 23, in which the Lord commanded that the Feast ofTabernacles be proclaimed as holy convocations—a time of spiritual purification for one to reconcile with God. Christians celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles with worship, prayer, seminars and pageantry. Jews observe an eight-day holy Feast known as Sukkot, in which the abundant
