How Do You Know When You Are Done?

• Decompose behavior in sufficient detail: • When a function can be uniquely allocated to a single component STOP DECOMPOSING • When a function cannot be uniquely allocated to a single component CONTINUE DECOMPOSING IT FURTHER • During the allocation/decomposition process, preserve • Inputs and outputs • Input/output sequences • Number and conditions for exits • Performance • Concurrently, refine the component architecture, as required

The objective is congruence between behavior and architecture
