once again highlighted last month with the news that our GRASP researchers received a Greater Manchester Clinical Research Network award (page 5), and hearing about the excellent progress we’re making in separate national studies researching psoriasis and ‘lazy eye’ (page 16). Finally, I want to finish by wishing you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year. The Christmas season, the end of the year around the corner, and a new year upon us, gives us the perfect opportunity to reflect on those things that are truly important to us: family and friends, compassion for others and being a part of something larger than ourselves. Welcome to your final edition of Our Trust Your News for 2017. The last few weeks have witnessed yet more milestones right across the Trust. At Burnley General Teaching Hospital, it was great to see the Mayor of Burnley officially open the £1.5 million Lancashire Elective Centre (page 4). Meanwhile, at the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre over 1,000 women a year can now experience a caesarean skin-to-skin birth thanks to a an excellent joint initiative by maternity staff (page 6). Over in Accrington, we received the excellent People at the Acorn Primary Care Centre, under the guidance of Professor Iqbal Singh (page 3). Meanwhile, I enjoyed visiting the Pendle Community Hospital Christmas Fayre, another fabulous event organised by the League of Friends for the benefit of patients and staff (page 15). Research and development remains a vibrant and very important part of the Trust’s work, a fact news that the Trust is to host a Centre of Excellence for Safety in the Care of Older
