#6 BRIAN LUMAN -- Senior Invert BRIAN LUMAN enters his fourth and final season with the USD football program ... last season he earned First Team All-Pioneer Football League honors after leading the Toreros with 101 tackles (57 unassisted) and 5 interceptions ... Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette selected him a First Team All-American in 2000 for NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Majors; Honorable Mention A ll-America as a return specialist; and a National Player of the Week (October 21st) for special teams ... named team's 2000 Defensive Player ofthe Year ... named PFL Player of the Week three times, twice for defense (Sept. 19th & 26th) and once for special teams (Oct.21st) .. . started 2000 season at invert, but moved to safety when team lost Kyle Slusser to injury ... Luman also chipped in with 5 tackles for losses (-21 yards) and 7 pass break-ups ... tallied five games of double-digit tackles and

matched his personal-best of 15 tackles against Dayton ... he posted 14 tackles twice (Brown & Davidson) and added 13 stops against Central

Connecticut ... he picked off two passes in Menlo game, including a 67-yard touchdown return .. . averaged team-best 28.1 yards per kickoffreturn ( 18 returns) ... owns IO career interceptions heading into final campaign ... in 1999 he finished third on team in tackles with 78 (35 unassisted) ... added 2 sacks (-12 yards), 9 tackles for loss (-29 yards), I forced fumble , I blocked kick, 4 pass breakups and I interception ... tallied four games with double-digit tackles, including 15 stops against Yale ( I I unassisted) ... in 1998 he finished 9th on the team in tackles with 37 (23 unassisted) and tied for second with 4 interceptions ... against Redlands he posted season-best marks of 8 tackles and 2 interceptions ... he prepped at Ashland High in Ashland, Oregon where he helped lead his team to a I0-1 mark his senior year ... was a Ist Team All-Southern Oregon Conference selection and 3rd Team All-State pick ... he also lettered in track where he earned Ist Team All -Conference and 2nd Team All-State recognition ... has been a featured dancer with the State Ballet of Oregon; he has danced since 1990 ... also recruited by Willamette, Oregon and St. Mary's ... #44 BRYAN BAXTER-- Senior Linebacker BRYAN BAXTER returns for hi s fourth and final campaign at linebacker ... last season he earned First Team All-Pioneer Football League honors after finishing second on the team in tackles with 83 (3 7 unassisted) ... Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette se lected him Honorable Mention All-America for NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Majors ... also added 3 quarterback sacks (-24 yards), 10 tackles for losses (-36 yards) and I pass break-up ... posted three games with double-digit tackles with a season-best 15 tackles (6 solo) versus Davidson .. . added 14 tackles against Dayto n and I I tackles in season-opener versus Azusa Pacific ... in 1999 he earned 2nd Team All-PFL honors after finishing second on the team in tackles with 93 (39 unass isted) and first in tackles

for loss with 13 (-46 yards) ... he also added 4 quarterback sacks (-1 9), 2 interceptions, 4 QB hurri es, I fumble recovery, 2 forced fumbles

and 2 blocked kicks .. . he finished six games with double-digit tackles, including the final four contests ... he was named PFL defensive player of the week (Sept. 12th) after team's win over Whittier ... season-best 13 tackles at Valparaiso ... in 1998 he earned his first start against Cal Lu and went on to sta rt the final 7 games of the season, finishing second on the team in tackles with 72 (41 unass isted) ... he had at least 9 stops in eac h of the final six games, netting 9 tackles three times (Central Conn. , Butler & Valparaiso), 12 tackl es twice (Fai rfi eld & Drake), and a personal– best 21 tack les (IO unass isted) in season final against Dayton ... he prepped at San Benito HS in Hollister, CA ... earned 2nd Team All-Central Coast Section honors a11d Monterey Bay All– League recogniti on ... two-time MVP Defensive Player of the Year for both team and league .. . also lettered in wrestling where he was a state qualifier and earned 3rd Team All-Section and Ist Team All-League honors ...
