Meet The Toreros

Ryan Lawrence enters his second season with the Toreros ... will compete for starting quarterback slot left vacant by the graduation ofMike Stadler and Tom Jackson ... prior to USD he prepped at Damien High School where in his senior season he pased for 2, I00 yards and helped lead his team to a I0-2 record (CIF quarterfinals) ... was selected AII-CIF, All-Sierra League, All-In land Valley and All-San Gabriel Valley ... junior campaign passed for 1,006 yards ( I00-for-175) with team finishing 7-4 ... also lettered in basketball where he made the varsity team his freshman year ... recruited by numerous Division I schools including Washington, Washington State, Colorado and Co lorado State, to name a few ... chose USD for its strong academics and quality football program ... Major: Mathematics; Minor: Spanish.

Ryan Lawrence #8 SO QB

Seth Litchney returns for his fourth and final season where he will compete for playing time with the offensive line unit at guard ... his brother Nick is also a member of the Toreros who plays center .. . prior to USD Seth prepped at St. Thomas Aquinas High

School in Alliance, Ohio where he was selected Most Valuable Player, Offensive Line Award and a Knightliners Scholar-Athlete ... was a three-year letterman ... also recruited by Brown, Yale, Mount Union and Army .. . chose USD for its beautiful campus and strong academics ... hobbies include playing blues bass guitar, traveling, and reading ... worked an internship with the Alliance Area Development Foundation .. . Major: Urban Studies; Minor: Communications.

Seth Litchney #64 SR OL

Brandon McHone returns for his senior year at USD where he will again see action at defensive end ... last season tallied 5 tackles in a reserve role with two going for

losses ... transferred to USD from Diablo Valley Junior College where he played for the Vikings ... he prepped at Justin-Siena High School where he lettered in both footba ll and wrestling .. . his senior year in footba ll he earned Honorable Mention recognition and was selected to the All-Star team ... also recruited by Puget Sound, Utah , Montana and Sacramento State .. . Major: Political Science; Minor: Business.

Damien Minna returns for his second season with USD ... last year he ranked third on the team in tackles from the linebacker slot with 64 (27 solo) ... he tallied a season- best 15 stops versus Valparaiso, and added IO tackles against Central Connecticut .. . he also chipped in with 2 sacks (-12 yards) , 7 tackles for losses (-23 yards) and I fumble

Brandon McHone #51 SR DE

recovery ... this season he moves over to the offense where he will compete for playing time at fullback ... prior to USD he attended Fresno State and Saddleback JC ... he prepped at Santa Margarita Catholic HS where in his senior year he was 2nd Team All-State and Defensive MVP for team, league and division whi le leading team to CIF Championship and 13-1 season ... 4-year letterman in baseball where he earned numerous awards ... also recruited

Wesley Morgan returns for his third season with the Toreros ... a two-year starter at defensive back, last season he ranked fourth on team with 63 tackles (41 solo), and had a team-best 8 pass breakups ... season-best I I tackles (Davidson) ... Damien Minna #2 SR RB

of the Week (Oct. 2 1) ... in 1999 he finished 12th on the team with 22 stops ( 12 solo) .. . also chipped in I forced fumble, I fumble recovery (at Dayton) and 2 pass breakups ... season-best 7 tackles (4 unassisted) at Valparaiso ... prior to USD played one year at West Va ll ey JC ... prepped at Gunderson High in San Jose, CA where he was 2nd Team AII-CCS with 7 interceptions his senior year ... tallied 5 picks his junior campaign whi le earning All-Mount Ham ilton League honors ... also lettered in track & field where he was team MVP ... chose USD for strong academics and football program ... Major: Electrical Engineering; Minor: Math.

Wesley Morgan #36 SR DB

Dana White is in his first and on ly season with the USD footba ll program this season ... he is no stranger to USD Athletics, however, as he has played on the USD men's basketball team the past four seasons ... this past year he earned First Team All-West Coast Conference honors while playing point guard for the Toreros ... he was also named the team's Most Valuable Player ... prior to USD he was a two-sport letterwi nner at Westview High School in Phoenix, Arizona ... in football he was a two-time First Team All-State wide receiver

... he was recruited by UN LV and Arizona State for football ... he chose basketball and USD for the school's academics and schoo l size ... enjoys playing video games ... Major: Communications.

Jackson ... prior to USD he played at El Cam ino Fundamental where in hi s senior year he was se lected the MVP for the Capital Athl etic League ... is holder ofnine passing/running records at the sc hool where he was a lso inducted into its Hall of Fame ... also lettered in baseball where he was MVP , All-City and All-League ... also rec ruited by Oregon, Redlands, Cal Poly and Arizona ... chose USD for its football program, location and strong academics ... last year earned Dean's List honors ... Major: Business.
