14 Keddy Saunders return s for his senior year with the Toreros football program .. . he will compete for playing time at running back for the Toreros .. . prior to transferring to USD for last year's 2000 campaign, Saunders played at nearby Southwestern Junior College where he played on the Apaches footba ll team .. . the squad was 8- 2 and participated in the McDonald's Bowl Game ... he prepped at Horizon Hig1i-School where he lettered in @.0th footba ll and basketball .. . despite being recruited by some Division I schoo ls, Saunders chose USD for its qua lity

Charlie Stansbury is back for his fourth and final season with the Toreros ... he will again be competing for playing time at tight end for the Toreros ... during 1999 he caught 5 balls for 38 yards with a long of 18 ... prior to USD Charlie attended Paso Robles High School where he lettered in both footba ll and baseball ... during his senior

year in football , he was team MVP, A ll-Los Padres League, All-County, All-CIF and a scho lar-athlete .. . team advanced to playoffs during his sophomore and senior campaigns ... earned 2nd Team A ll-League honors playing baseball ... his uncle, Dan Stansbury, played football at Cal Poly .. . also recruited by Ca l Poly, Humboldt State and UC Davis .. . chose USD for weather and academics ... Charlie Stansbury #21 SR TE

Phillip Thrash returns for his third season at USD ... he is the projected starting running back for the Toreros this season, replacing career-record holder Oscar Arzu .. . last season he rushed 30 times for 13 7 yards (4.6 average) , finishing with 4 rushing

touchdowns and a long rush of 16 yards (Davidson) ... against Menlo he rushed for a season-high 54 yards and 2 touchdowns .. . also caught 2 passes, including an 8-yard TD versus Butler .. . his 5 scores and 30 points ranked second on the team ... during his freshman year he rushed for 87 yards on 20 carries, including a personal-best 19- yard scamper .. . prepped at Carson High School where he was a two-year letterwinner as a WR/DB ... missed most ofsenior year with broken ankle .. . also recruited by Army, Redlands and SDSU .. . chose USO for quality education .. . Major: Electrical Engineering; Minor: Mathematics.

Kenny Villalobos returns for his third season where he is projected to start in the fullback slot ... last season ranked third on the team with 186 yards rushing (4.3 per rush average) .. . found the endzone once (Butler) and tal li ed a long rush of 18 yards

Phillip Thrash #22 JR RB

(Azusa Pacific) ... game-high 50 yards rushing at Butler ... also caught IO passes for 83 yards with I TD (Central Connecticut) ... hauled in 2 passes for 25 yards against Menlo with long of 17 ... prepped at Moreno Va ll ey where in senior year was team MVP, All-Sunbelt League, and the No. I punter in SoCal ... se lected a three-time All-League linebacker ... attended Mt. San Jacinto College before heading to USD ... Major: Sociology.

Kenny Villalobos #40 JR FB

Chris Walker is back for his senior season with USD where he will compete for playing time at wide receiver ... did not play last season .. . transferred to USO from San Jose State where he attended his freshman year in 1997 ... prepped at La Canada HS where he

was a three-sport letterwinner in football , basketball and track ... senior season was team MVP, All -Rio Hondo League as QB and DB ... also All-San Gabrie l Va lley, All-Glendale and All-Burbank .. . recruited by Cal, San Jose State, Oregon State and Saint Mary's ... chose USO for area, footba ll program and Business School ... Major: Business.

Will Withers returns for his junior campaign where he wi ll compete for playing time with the receiving corp ... although he came to USD in 1998, he sat out last season .. . in 1999 he recorded 8 tackles (4 solo) in five contests as a defensive back ... prepped at Rubidoux

Chris Walker #87 SR WR

HS where he was a four-sport letterwinner in football , baseball, track and soccer ... during his senior season in football he earned All-League and All-County honors ... junior year was All-League with team going 9-1 and winning Ivy League .. . sophomore campaign team lost ClF championship game ... CIF qualifier in 400 meters ... recruited by New

Mexico State and Penn ... chose USO for academics and football .. . at USO, earned Presidential Scholarship ... Ist Honors Dean's List each semester .. . Major: Accountancy/ Procurement.

Will Withers #28 JR WR

Ryan Zierolf returns for fourth and fina l year at USO where he will aga in

compete for playing time with the offensive line unit .. . saw some starting action last season, including start at Brown, when tackle Matt Collins went out with injury ... played at Sequoia High School where he was a two-time MVP and team captain .. . also earned All -County honors and Lineman of the Year recognition senior season ... two-time All – Peninsula Ath letic League honors ... also lettered in basketball and track (shot put and di scus) ... also recruited by San Jose State, Air Force, St. Mary's, Utah and Northern Arizona .. chose USO for its location, class size and academics ...
