ES Fue un inglés inseguro, temblón, algo entrecortado, pero el resultado fue el esperado. Gracias a su ofrecimiento, la conversación empezó a fluir entre ellos. Se llamaba Lena y para hablar se quitó las gafas de sol. Jorge quedó de pronto fascinado por aquellos ojos. Imaginó por un momento qué pensarían sus amigos del colegio si le vieran con una chica así... ¡y enci- ma alemana! Lena cerró el libro y se ofreció a hablar con naturalidad. De aquella charla inicial nació una amistad que, por desgracia, sólo duraría cuarenta y ocho horas, tiempo estimado en el que ella partiría hacia Düsseldorf. Sabedor de la premura que esto le provocaba, Jorge se encargó de organizar todo tipo de planes, ante el asombro de sus incrédulos padres. No pararon de hacer actividades, dentro y fuera del hotel, con lo que no hubo tregua para que el aburrimiento les cogiera desprevenidos. Pasaron los dos días juntos, sin parar de hablar, montando en motos de agua, probando el windsurf, haciéndose selfis a cada momento, en cada terraza de la playa del Inglés, en cada metro cuadrado de arena, en la piscina del hotel, en el gimnasio... en todas partes, incluido el restaurante asiático al que la noche de despedida fueron los dos con permiso de sus padres. Les encantó la cena a solas. No querían que terminara porque ambos sabían que el tiempo se acababa y a la mañana siguiente ella partiría rumbo a Alemania. Entre ellos se produjo un baile de sentimientos que les obligó a guardar uno de sus secretos más íntimos e inconfesables: los dos tenían pareja en sus ciudades de origen. Este fue el motivo que produjo el error más grave que cometió Jorge.

EN Her English was uncertain, stutter- ing, hesitant even, but his question worked nonetheless. Thanks to his o er, the con- versation began to flow between them. Her name was Lena and she took her glasses o to speak to him. Suddenly Jorge was captivated by those eyes. For a moment he imagined what his friends at school would think if they saw him with a girl like her… And what’s more, she was German! Lena closed her book to continue that initial conversa- tion, a conversation that sparked a friend- ship, which, unfortunately, would only last for 48 hours, when she would return home to Düsseldorf. Aware of the urgency this created, Jorge took it on himself to organise all sorts of things, much to the astonishment of his parents. For two days, they were constantly engaged in activities inside and outside the hotel, leaving no chance for boredom to catch them unaware. They spent the two days together, talking all the time, riding on jet skis, trying out windsurfing, taking doz- ens of selfies on the various terraces of the Playa del Inglés, on every square metre of sand, in the hotel pool, in the gym… in short, everywhere, including the Asian restaurant where their parents let them dine together on the night they parted. They loved being able to eat alone. They didn’t want the night to come to an end. Both knew time was running out and the following morning she would return to Germany. This produced a tumult of feel- ings that led each to keep one of their most intimate and inconfessable secrets to themselves: both had a partner back home. It was this secret that caused Jorge to make the mistake that would haunt him for the year to come.

DE Es war ein unsicheres Englisch, zittrig, etwas abgehackt, aber es führte zum erho ten Ergebnis. Dank seines Angebots kam die Konversation zwischen ihnen in Gang. Sie hieß Lena. Zum Reden nahm sie die Brille ab und Jorge war von ihren Augen sofort fasziniert. Einen Moment lang stellte er sich vor, was wohl seine Schulfreunde sagen würden, wenn sie ihn mit so einem Mädchen sahen... und einem deutschen noch dazu! Lena machte ihr Buch zu und ging ganz natürlich zum Gespräch über. Aus dieser ersten Unterhaltung entstand eine Freundschaft, die leider nur 48 Stunden dauern sollte, denn das war die Zeit, die noch blieb, bis sie nach Düsseldorf zurückkehrte. Der Dringlichkeit, die dies mit sich brachte, wohl bewusst, kümmerte sich Jorge darum, alles Mögliche zu organisieren, sehr zur Verwunderung seiner ungläubig staunenden Eltern. Aktivität folgte auf Aktivität, sowohl im als auch außerhalb des Hotels, damit bloß keine Pause entstünde, in der die Langeweile sie überraschen könnte. Sie verbrachten zwei Tage zusammen, redeten pausenlos, fuhren Jet-Ski, probierten Windsurfen aus, machten ständig Selfies, auf jeder Terrasse am Strand Playa del Inglés, auf jedem Quadratmeter Sand, am Hotelpool, im Fitnessraum... überall, sogar im asiatischen Restaurant, in das die beiden am letzten Abend mit Erlaubnis ihrer Eltern gingen. Sie genossen das Abendessen zu zweit. Sie wollten gar nicht, dass es endete, denn beide wussten, dass ihre Zeit dann vorbei sein und Lena am nächsten Morgen nach Deutschland au rechen würde. Ihre Gefühle tanzten und sie fühlten sich gezwungen, eines ihrer größten und unaussprechlichsten Geheimnisse zu wahren: Beide hatten in ihrer Heimatstadt einen Freund bzw. eine Freundin. Aus diesem Grund kam es auch zu Jorges folgenschwer- stem Fehler.
