WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

COURSES

All of our courses are very practical in nature and include work experience both on campus and off-site within industry. Our world-class equine facilities on campus will enable you to immediately put into practice what you have learned in the classroom. Our range of courses offer you an introduction to all aspects of horse care and riding, right up to more in-depth knowledge of horse management, science and equitation. Depending on the course you do, you will also be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties, which will develop the practical skills necessary to gain employment within the equine industry. Depending on the course you do, you will also have the opportunity to assist in the running of college equine competitions. Whichever course you decide, you will undertake an external work placement within the equine industry as part of your course. The placement will not only enable you to develop your practical skills in a commercial setting but will give you valuable employment skills and experience which are vital for working in the industry after your studies. If you choose to study the Level 3 Extended Diploma Horse Management, the Diploma Horse Management or the Extended Certificate/Advanced Technical Certificate Horse Management, you will need to live in our on-site accommodation. You do not need to be able to ride to study the Extended Diplomas Horse Management (Business). More details are available on the Hartpury website and on page 64 of this prospectus. You’ll also have the opportunity to study for British Horse Society exams, compete in internal college competitions, attend educational visits to a variety of equine locations and events such as Badminton Horse Trials. Students can also attend guest lectures and demonstrations like Horses Inside Out.
