Paralympian Mel Nicholls is Hartpury’s sports ambassador | Our partnership with the T34 1500m World Record holder, sees former Hartpury student Mel provide a support role at the college, using her expertise and knowledge from competing at the top level of her sport to help mentor students through their development at Hartpury. In turn, Hartpury supported Mel on her journey to the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio and beyond, providing backing, equipment and support for her busy training schedule.

Rio 2016 | Former Hartpury College students Abbie Brown and Natasha Hunt both played a starring role for Great Britain Women’s Sevens team as they finished fourth at Rio 2016 while another former student, Dan Norton, picked up a team silver for the GB men’s sevens team alongside another former Hartpury RFC player, Ruaridh McConnochie. Hartpury equine graduate and eventer, Astier Nicolas, won team gold and individual silver for France.

Hartpury Tri-Golf a swinging success | Children from five primary schools battled it out in a Tri-Golf competition run and hosted by Hartpury’s students. After a great day of golfing action which saw pupils swing for cup glory in various chipping and putting challenges, all five teams performed brilliantly. The competition was planned and run by first year BTEC Golf students as part of their course. Jennie Dwight, Staunton and Corse Primary School Headteacher, said: “The golf event was very much enjoyed by the children and they were kept engaged and interested throughout the day by Hartpury’s students.”
