COURSES

If it’s your ambition to join one of the uniformed public services then these courses are ideal to give you an insight into the types of careers you could follow and the kind of work that public service employees do. You should already have a reasonable level of fitness and commitment to your studies, and be able to deal with strict codes of discipline. These courses are designed to provide you with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the features and careers of each uniformed public service and the expectations they have of serving members of the public. You will discover that the uniformed public services have a central function within modern society and provide structure and support to its values. You will also look at how the public services have changed over recent years to reflect a multi-cultural society and to respond to political and economic changes. Areas of study include government, policies and the public services, leadership and teamwork in the public services, police powers, citizenship and diversity and physical preparation for the uniformed public services. The course will also include a range of day trips including the Crown Court and RAF Brize Norton. Visiting speakers include the Royal Navy, British Army and Gloucestershire Constabulary.

There is also an opportunity for involvement with Gloucestershire Constabulary riot training, Prison Service search dogs and mountain rescue.

Our lecturers and instructors have a wide range of experience in the industry and their knowledge, experience and passion for the subject will help you develop your skills and explore your options after college.

Please note that new qualifications have been and are under development, so titles between awarding organisations may vary from those indicated above.
