Life through a lens

St Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia and is regarded as its cultural heart. Photographer Slava Korolev, a lifelong citizen, guides us around his home city through a selection of his pictures

1 Tsarskoye Selo Take a stroll in fall through the gardens of this beautiful palace just south of St Petersburg. This is when many of the statues are decorated with these garlands of colorful leaves. 2 Kazan Cathedral Kazan Cathedral on Nevsky Prospekt is fronted by an impressive stone colonnade. It served as a museum of religion and atheism after the revolution and was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1996. 3 Gastronomika I am a huge fan of this restaurant’s modern international cuisine. The centerpiece of the restaurant in an open kitchen space with a large pizza oven, but in the summer the place to be is up on the roof. I love it here.
