Hard Garage If you’ve ever sat down at Soho House New York, Miami or London, it was probably on a George Smith creation. The British company makes its products in the north of England, and other customers include Hotel Daniel, Paris. This season the brand is working with Raoul textiles. The fabric on the Edwardian unbuttoned chair (above) is weatherproof so pieces can be taken outside. Available online and from the New York showroom, opening in April. From $8,310, georgesmith.co.uk Dasha Zhukova (art collector, editor and partner of Roman Abramovich) is preparing to unveil her new gallery, Garage Moscow. The new space will open in June inside a utilitarian Soviet-era concrete building, remodeled by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas’s OMA (below with Zhukova). The gallery will show a collection of contemporary Russian artists and traveling exhibitions from big names in modern art. The innovative design combines original Soviet-era elements with modern thinking in landscaping and large-dimension building. garageccc.com/en

WILD AT HEART PARKS IN THE AIR BRING GREENERY TO BUSY CITIES AND AWHOLE NEW MEANING TO RAISED BEDS Following on from the New York High Line’s success at creating a dose of wilderness in the most urban of locations (right), other cities are following suit. In London, you can now book to view the city from the Sky Garden (above), which recently opened atop the Walkie Talkie building at 20 Fenchurch Street. This 9,000 sq ft space is not so much a garden as a prettily planted, glass-walled restaurant complex, but it’s a peaceful spot to take lunch while overlooking the City from 37 floors up. A more ambitious project is afoot in San Francisco where a 196,000 sq ft park is under construction on the roof of the Transbay Transit Center, due to open next year. And in Mexico City, there’s a rumor that plans are in place to develop an elevated park linking the large public park at Chapultepec to the metro system, bringing a wonderful elevation to the bustling capital.
