MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

MR. JAMES J. WHITE, Solicitor, died on the 27th June, 1932, at 7 Connaught Terrace, Rathgar, Dublin. Mr. White served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Matthew J. White, Dublin, and was admitted Trinity Sittings, 1898. NEW MEMBERS. The following have recently joined the Society : J. D'Oyly Battley, 31 Molesworth Street, Dublin. Patrick J. Gallery, Elphin. Herbert W. Condell, 6 Frankfort Avenue, Dublin. Peter A. Fitzpatrick, Clones. Robert A. Frewen, Tipperary. John C. Kieran (Jr.), Ardee. Judah L. Lapedus, 57 Dame Street, Dublin. PROFESSORSHIP OF COMMON LAW. The Council, upon the 7th July, appointed Mr. James J. Hickey, Solicitor, to the office of Professor of Common Law to the Society. Mr. Hickey passed his final examination in October, 1926, and was awarded a gold medal at that examination, and subsequently was awarded the Findlater Scholarship for 1927. He was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1927, and practises in Dublin as a member of the firm of Messrs. Kerr and Hickey. Malachy S. Matthews, Drogheda. Roger G. O'Sullivan, Limerick. Brendan C. Russell, Dundalk.

16th June. Twenty-four members present. Examinations.

The report of the Court of Examiners giving the results of the June Intermediate Examination was submitted and adopted. Section 47. Three applications for renewal of certifi– cates were dealt with. Section 16. Two applications for leave to be bound under Section 16 were considered; both applications were granted. OBITUARY. MR. JAMES McKnowN, Solicitor, died on the 1st June, 1932, at his residence, " Hill- field," Marlborough Park, South, Belfast. Mr. McKeown served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. John G. Shaw, Belfast; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1898, and practised as a member of the firm of Johnstone and Walkington, at 16 Donegall Square, South, Belfast. MR. ROBERT A. CROMIE, Solicitor, died on the 8th June, 1932, at Mount Royal, Banbridge. Mr. Cromie served his apprenticeship with Mr. William A. Cromie, Newry; was .admitted in Easter Sittings, 1928, and practised at Banbridge, County Down.
