OBITUARY.

BALLOT FOR COUNCIL. The ballot for election of Council will be held on Monday, 21st November, from eleven o'clock to one o'clock, in the Secretary's Office, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin. Voting papers should reach the Secretary not later than one o'clock on the 21st November. HALF-YEARLY GENERAL MEETING A Half-yearly General Meeting of the Society will be held at half-past two o'clock p.m., on Monday, the 28th November, in the Hall of the Society, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin.

MR.

Solicitor, died on the 2nd August, at Harrogate, Yorkshire. Mr. Sheridan was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1891, and practised in Dundalk. In 1909 he was appointed Clerk of the Crown and Peace for County Louth, and he was subsequently appointed County Registrar, which office he filled at the time of his death. MR. JAMES TONER, Solicitor, died on the 2nd August, at Belfast. Mr. Toner served his apprenticeship to the late Mr. Patrick Maxwell, of Londonderry, and practised at Strabane. In 1908 he was appointed Clerk of the Crown and Peace for County Tyrone, which office he filled at the time of his death. MR. HUGH H. SMILEY, Solicitor, died on the 12th August, at Larne, County Antrim. Mr. Smiley served his apprenticeship to the late Mr. John A. Williams, of Larne ; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1897, and practised at Larne. MR. JOSEPH LOUGHREY, Solicitor, died on the 5th September, at his residence, Rosslyn, Londonderry. Mr. Loughrey was admitted in Hilary Term, 1872, and practised at Londonderry until 1929 when he retired. MR. JAMES BROWN, Solicitor, died on the 16th September, at Knowhead, Coleraine. Mr. Brown, who served his apprenticeship to the late Mr. B. H. Lane, of Limavady, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1881, and practised at Magherafelt.

MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL.

27th October. Thirty-two Members present. Landlord and Tenant Act, 1931.

It was resolved that the attention of the Minister for Justice be drawn to the want of Rules of Court under this Act. Court of Examiners. A report 'was submitted from the Court of Examiners giving the results of the October examinations and the awards of scholarships. The report was adopted. Annual Report. The draft Annual Report of the Council was submitted and adopted.
