LEARNING INTENTION AND SUCCESS CRITERIA EXAMPLE:

Learning Intention: I am learning to sing with a correct and appropriate tone quality. Success Criteria : I know I’ll have it when, ● I can sing with open, tall, and tension free posture for an entire performance. ● I can connect to a strong and low breath that supports an even and consistent tone. ● I can resonate using an open throat and mouth space with simultaneous forward placement. ● I can fne tune my vowel choice to lend the most clarity to a given note, considering style and pitch range. ● I can identify faults in my own tone quality, and know how to improve the sound. LEARNING PROGRESSION EXAMPLE: ● Run daily warm ups with students, introducing the concepts of Posture, Breathing, Resonance, and Vowel Shape, as well as the various classical singing techniques that will help make improvements in the overall production of tone. ● Introduce and rehearse choral literature that reinforces and applies the techniques introduced in warmups as listed. ● Perform the songs during an in class assessment where the instructor can determine what level

of success each student is having during each song and provide feedback. ● Record a performance and guide students to self assess their tone quality. ● Create and apply a plan to improve tone quality using self assessment data.
