Learning Intention: I can sing while meeting all performance expectations (listed above). Success Criteria : I know I’ll have it when, ● I can defne the important elements of vocal physiology and describe their parts in the process of healthy phonation. ● I can demonstrate vowels & diction appropriate for choral singing. ● I can demonstrate posture and breathing that will support good vocal technique. ● I can perform in a variety of placements appropriate for the range and style. ● I can combine those skills to achieve healthy and in tune singing in performance. ● I can recognize those skills in other performances. LEARNING PROGRESSION EXAMPLE: ● Structured lessons for vocal physiology and function - focus on vocabulary and describing the process of phonation. ● Use warmups and repertoire as consistent reminders to focus on building habitually healthy posture and breathing. ● Select repertoire to provide experience with a variety of range and style - use that repertoire to teach the differences and adjustments. ● Continue to include focus on these basics (posture, breath, vowels, placement, fow) daily in rehearsals to build a habitual foundation. ● Perform as an assessment - utilizing both instructor feedback and self-assessment to continue improvement. ● Regularly listen to their own performances as well as others in order to practice identifying strengths and weaknesses. ● Utilize self assessment and apply knowledge and skills towards steps for improvement.
