This year was particularly exciting for the USO athletic program. The Men's Intercol– legiate Basketball team, placed in the NCAA Division I, hosted the University ofNotre Dame at the San Diego Sports Arena. It was a challenging game, yet the Toreros came out ahead, defeating Notre Dame. Although they do not com– pete nationally, some students found intramural sports to be just as challenging as collegiate sports. Personal rivalry and honor gave them an opportuinty to compete in sports such as water polo, flag football, volleyball, racquet– ball, and basketball.
