AWAKEN THE DAWN!

When I work out on the Nautilus equipment, I start on the weight machines that exercise the big leg muscles; “It gets the blood pumping,” the young man at the fitness center told me; “it’s the best way to start.” Start your hour of prayer with worship and praise. Focus your attention on God; leave the personal things until later. Begin with adoration! Try standing and lifting your hands to God. Strangely, this is sometimes hard to do, but this action glorifies God; it can elevate you into an expec- tant, faith-filled state of mind. Lift your voice to magnify the great God who has saved you. If spontaneous praise does not come easily to your lips, utilize the power- packed verses of the Psalms. Take a passage and person- alize it, such as Psalm 100: I shout joyfully to you, oh LORD, and so does all the earth. I serve You with gladness; I come before You Lord with joyful singing… Thank You, LORD, I bless Your name. For You are good; Your lovingkindness is everlasting, And Your faithfulness is to all generations. Allow your mind to revel in His great redemption. Thank Him for the precious blood of Christ that has purchased your salvation. Take several minutes for concentrating praise on the living God for who He is. 4 Let your mind acknowledge and your tongue confess that God is both your Father and “our” Father in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the God of all creation who is exalted above all things in the universe. Talk to God, and do not be
