AWAKEN THE DAWN!

Each deposit box has two locks. One lock is opened by the bank key, and the second, by the depositor’s key. The bank teller takes both keys into the vault, inserts and turns the keys simultaneously, and pulls the safe’s door open. She then pulls the box out of the safe and hands it to the depositor. The depositor now has the freedom to do whatever he wishes with the contents. As I rushed about searching for my key, I realized I was running out of time. I had to go! I felt, somehow, the prob- lem would be solved at the bank. The teller knows me, knows my name, knows that I live nearby, and certainly trusts me since she knows I am a minister! I felt rather self-assured as I approached the bank counter. The friendly teller greeted me like a long-lost friend. (Things were going well!) As I began to sign in at the counter, I casually, laughingly mentioned that I could not find my key. I knew at that instant I was in trouble. The teller became all business (no smiles!). “Reverend Gentile,” she said, “I cannot open your box without that key. You must have the key!” “But I’ve looked for it and can’t find it,” I replied with sin- cerity. “Couldn’t you possibly open it for me?” In no uncertain terms she informed me that the box could not be opened, and that it would be a major project to bring in the safe expert to change the lock and make a new key. “Why don’t you go home and look again,” she said. Seriously worried now, and feeling frustrated and deflat- ed, I turned away and walked slowly to my automobile. After much mental anguish and a frantic search, I found
