Awaken The Dawn

Gethsemane: Last Morning of Prayer

prayer that will eclipse all others, for in this intense, mag- nificent intercession will be the total learning experience of the Son of Man. Through His ministry, Jesus has obe- diently walked in the principle of Isaiah 50:4, 5. Morning by morning He has awakened to the Father’s presence and voice. But on this morning, when there will be no time for sleep, He will not be awakened by the Father. It is time for His destiny and prophetic fulfillment. Everything that Jesus has learned as an “awakened disci- ple” now comes into play as His soul bows beneath the weight of man’s greatest challenge: to do the will of the Father even when that action means the loss of all other things near and dear. The sinless Man is to die for the sins of the world. He who knew no sin is to take our sins upon Himself. 11 The penalty of sin and rebellion against God must be paid, and “the wages of sin is death.” 12 Jesus’ apparent hesitation and withdrawal from His pending death was not craven fear or cowardice. After all, this was not just dread of some terrible physical pain or an awful prospect of being deserted by friends and asso- ciates. It was the battle of human will surrendering to divine will, for He who was the Son of God was also the Son of Man.
