abundant “lead in” time to do His will for His glory in our daily situations. Paul advocated this very principle when he said, “We know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him….” 17 The last two houses where we lived are examples of answered prayers. I mention this because God is very concerned about our personal needs, and He will “open our ears” with insights if we will seek Him. For six months, Joy and I prayed about moving, but we really didn’t do anything about it. Then, suddenly, we both became acutely aware that the time had come. The Lord had “opened our ears”—we perceived what we were sup- posed to do. We immediately began house-hunting, and quickly found our present house and sold our other house promptly as well. (Shortly after we moved, real estate prices escalated sharply.) Paul clearly declares that the Spirit will bring wisdom and spiritual perception to us. Things are revealed to us “through the Spirit” as we are taught “by the Spirit.” In other words, we too have our “ears” or spiritual percep- tion opened. 18 Surely prayer is the key facilitator of this process. The cry of the Spirit to the seven churches of Asia was “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” 19 Apraying church will know the will of God. “And I Was Not Disobedient” The rest of the third Servant Song tells us what we already know: Jesus was obedient to the instruction of His Father, even though it meant public humiliation and physical torture.
