Awaken The Dawn

Refreshment in the Morning

would go without. Whatever manna was left over turned foul, stank, and became infested with maggots the next day. Think of it! For forty years the Israelites arose early to gather their daily bread. How the Church today would be affected if every Christian would rise early to gather spir- itual bread in the presence of the Father! These beautiful words appear in the Lamentations of Jeremiah: The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,

For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The LORD is good t o those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. 5

Alone with God For an hour…just me and God…alone together. I think we all acknowledge that God fills the universe, and He knows every move we make and all the thoughts we think. But somehow it is different when you set the time, you make the date, you literally expect to rendezvous with Almighty God for an actual hour. The idea that one can really sense the presence of God— yes, even talk to Him—seems far-fetched to some. For those of us who set such times alone with God, there is no question that He is real, wonderfully real, even at times, palpably present. An enjoyable article on this subject appeared in the Reader’s Digest (Mar. 1984). Barbara 57
