AWAKEN THE DAWN!

As He learned His lessons, Jesus tested them in the crucible of life. Jesus discovered that what the Father told Him was indeed true. He learned to pray daily in this manner: under the rule of His Father, perfecting the will of His God. Hence, when Jesus taught His followers to pray “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,” the prayer not only came from heaven, but as well directly from His heart. Secrets of Prayer During an exciting two-week period, the Lord seemed to drop “secrets of prayer” into my heart. As I look back on my own experience, I can easily believe that Jesus received His insights during His early-morning sessions with the Father. Each morning I jotted the thoughts down hastily as I prayed, taking up a page or two in the blank pages of the Christmas book my daughter gave me. Secret #1: God Loves Secrets. This truth may have occurred to Jesus while reflecting on Isaiah 26: 20, a por- tion of which He quoted in Matthew 6:6:

But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

This statement is well known, particularly in the King James translation. We are told to go into our “closet” to pray. Unfortunately, the word “closet” has a different connotation in today’s parlance. As a child, for instance, I thought Jesus meant the broom closet! Jesus, of course, did not pray in broom closets, but He did understand and 62
