Somehow we get the idea that we must zealously seek God because everything depends on just how earnestly and truly we pray and deny ourselves. Early morning prayer has persuaded me that God seeks my welfare much more assiduously than I am seeking Him. Going back to Matthew 6:33, we find that many wonder- ful things will come to our lives if we put the Lord first. The Father Himself seeks to bless us and provide for our every need. In truth, The Father’s concern for our safety and well being is beyond our ability to comprehend. Let me state it as a principle: No matter how diligently I may seek God, He is already, more seriously, looking to bless and help me. We humans have a frustrating inclination to drift away from God’s will which makes it difficult for the Lord to work with us and bless us. It reminds me of a horse I once observed at the 4th Cavalry herds at Ft. Mead, South Dakota. My father was stationed at this last outpost of the military horse. I was in the fifth grade at the time, and my delight was to go out and ride the herd with the men under my father’s command. But there was one horse that always strayed away from the herd. I was told it was because the horse was blind in one eye. It always faced the herd with its blind eye, so it never watched the other horses; naturally the horse drifted away from the herd as it sought greener pasture. That horse was always off where it was not supposed to be—a constant irritation to those who were commissioned to its care. I think many of us have a blind side also. We fail to recog- nize God’s great desire to bless us and make us prosper. Our heavenly Father not only loves us with an invisible,
