APPEALS REGARDING AN APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION CMSA APPEALS POLICY

All applicants applying for certification are subject to the following:

1.1. Any applicant applying for certification who considers that they have been adversely affected by a decision of the CMSA in relation to the said application may, within fourteen (14) days of receipt of notice of such decision from the CMSA, apply to the Chief Executive Officer to have such decision reviewed by the CMSA Board. 1.2. Such application shall be in writing and accompanied by all relevant information or grounds upon which the applicant seeks to rely in relation to the review.

1.3. An appeal may only be made on one or more of the following grounds: (a) an error in law; (b) an error in the process of certification; or (c) material not available or considered when the original decision was made.

1.4. The CMSA Board, upon considering all submissions, may: (a) confirm the decision under review; (b) revoke the decision under review.

1.5. The final decision of the CMSA Board is: (a) absolute and not subject to justification, further enquiry nor review. CERTIFIED CASE MANAGER™ RE-ENDORSEMENT INTRODUCTION

A Certified Case Manager™ endorsement is valid for a three (3) year term at which time the Certified Case Manager™ is required to submit an online application for Re-Endorsement as a Certified Case Manager™. To maintain the continuity of their certification status, a Certified Case Manager™ is required to complete the CCM Re-endorsement application prior to the expiration date of their current Certified Case Manager™ endorsement (i.e. registration date). The Certified Case Manager™ will be required to demonstrate their continued vocational case management experience, commitment to continued professional development and compliance with the National Standards of Practice for Case Management (3rd Revised Edition) and National Code of Ethics for Case Management (2nd Edition 2013).

PREREQUISITES FOR CCM™ RE-ENDORSEMENT

In order to be eligible to apply for a three (3) year re-endorsement, an existing Certified Case Manager™ must provide evidence of:

ONE (1) YEAR FTE (1824 HRS) VOCATIONAL CASE MANAGEMENT PRACTICE EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST 3 YEARS Note: (1) Full Time Equivalent (FTE) calculations are based on 38 hours per week over 48 weeks.(ii) vocational case management practice experience includes practical, managerial or theoretical This prerequisite demonstrates the Certified Case Managers™ ‘recency of practice’. ‘Recency of practice’ means that the Certified Case Manager™ has recent vocational case management practice experience (i.e. practical, managerial or theoretical) and their case management skills are current and up to date. The CMSA defines practice as: “...the facilitation of case management, with or without remuneration, in which the Certified Case Manager™ uses their advanced education, experience, knowledge and skills as a case management practitioner and/or professional ...practice is not restricted to the provision of direct case management (i.e. practical application) but may also refer to managerial application (i.e. supervision of case management practitioners and/or programs and/or portfolio/s) or theoretical application (i.e. case management education or research)”

TWENTY FOUR (24) HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT (PTD) IN THE PAST THREE (3) YEARS Note: Activities should be backdated to the previous endorsement (i.e. registration date) as a Certified Case Manager™
