Everything Horses and Livestock Magazine ® Daily Resurrection by Cory Young

to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” The first thing we see from this passage is that, as Christ is “in” us (as believers), our body is “dead because of sin.” So, the dumb things that I continue to do and think daily (and there are many) are a direct result of the fact that I’m still in a “dead” body. That is, I’m still living in a body affected by sin. That would be a depressing place to end this passage. There, is, however, grace in the reminder that the Apostle Paul gives us. We can’t be perfect. IF we could be perfect, we wouldn’t need a Savior. Jesus is the only perfection this world has ever seen. Here’s the beauty of the remainder of this verse…when we trusted Christ, we received the Holy Spirit who lives within us. Verse 11 literally says that the Spirit gives “life to your mortal bodies.” That is, as we walk in Him, the Spirit resurrects our lives from the inside out…now! The promise of eternity but also the miracle of resurrection today. That is an amazing result of our relationship with Christ. That brings us to our closing question: How do I see the Spirit working in my life? How do I experience this “resurrection” of my hearth, thoughts, and actions? The answer is as simple as salvation itself. Just like we trust Him for my eternal salvation I need to trust Him every day. For me, that gets easier as I talk to Him in prayer, listen to Him in His Word (the Bible), and get

around other folks who can encourage me (other believers in a local church). Everybody in the horse world knows that your maturity as a horseman grows as you get around folks that “raise you to the next level.” For some that might mean heading to some clinics or reading articles. For others that might mean seeking heading to a practice pen or spending one-on-one time with a great coach. We can’t really get anywhere going our own way. So, it is with our spiritual life. You want to take it to the next level? You want to see the Spirit’s daily resurrection work in our life? Get into his Word. Seek Him in Prayer. Hang with other believers. Now…get after it.

Easter is just around the corner (April 12th this year). Though we call it Easter, we’d be better off remembering it as Resurrection Sunday. That is, it is the day we set aside each year to honor Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. His marvelous work provided the way for you and me to receive eternal life. Through faith in Christ, we can walk in the knowledge that no matter what this world throws at us…we know where we’re going in the end. We know how our story ends (which is really just another new beginning). Jesus’ resurrection opened the door for our resurrection someday in the future. The amazing part is that this gift of salvation is FREE. Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Depends on His work on the cross… not on mine. Thank you, Jesus. While we often focus on the eternal impact of our salvation (living in heaven after we die), the Bible also teaches us that there is a major daily result of our salvation. One that is lived out daily as we grow in Christ. Let’s read Romans 8:10-11: “And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life
