That’s why Carilion Trauma Services is joining forces with the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and the Falls Free ® Coalition. While falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injury for people 65 years of age and older, they are not an inevitable part of aging. This year’s Fall Prevention Awareness Day theme, Take a Stand to Prevent Falls , seeks to raise awareness about how to prevent fall- related injury among older adults. Take initiative in your health and help prevent falls. Minimum: 5 Maximum: 8 Registration Eligibility Date Time Fee Ends Sept. 18 21 & over Tuesday, Sept. 25 6 p.m. $5/$10 HANGING ROCK RAPTOR OBESERVATORY/HIKE Additional Information: The Hanging Rock Observatory has been a monitoring point for hawk, eagle, and falcon and osprey migration along the birds’ eastern route. Join us as we travel to Monroe County, West Virginia for a fun filled day of bird watching . There is a 20-40-minute walk up the mountain to the observatory. Participants should bring binoculars, sunglasses, hat, comfy walking shoes, and jacket and pack a lunch/drink to be enjoyed during the day at the observatory. At 5:15 p.m. on the day the swap is held, you will be allowed to select different books to take home to enjoy. When can I enroll or change my plan? These and other important questions and information on plan changes and deadlines will be presented by Deena Flinchum, VICAP Counselor with NRV Agency on Aging. Deena will discuss ways to get coverage, learn what the drug plan covers, the types of costs you’ll pay in a Medicare drug plan and how Part D works with other insurance.
