Additional Information: Join RSVP volunteers in the 10 th Annual Walk-a-Thon, all proceeds will go to purchase basic household and personal care items for 210 homebound seniors in the NRV. Sponsored walkers receive free breakfast. A pancake breakfast will be available to the general public on site for a $5 dollar donation per person. To participate, call RSVP at (540) 382-5775 to register and obtain sponsor sheets. Pre-Register. Eligibility Date Time 50 & over Thursday, Oct. 4 8 – 11 a.m. STAFF VS SENIORS POOL TOURNAMENT Location: Recreation Center – Billiards room Additional Information: Sharpen your pool skills as we bring back the staff vs. seniors’ pool tournament. Refreshments and drinks provided. Pre-register. This program will help inform participants, whether a new resident to Christiansburg or a lifelong resident, by providing them with information they need to know. Topics covered include Town’s citizen alert program, senior lock box program, and everything in between. We will meet at the Recreation Department before departing for a driving tour of Christiansburg. Lunch provided by Holiday Inn Christiansburg/Blacksburg . Pre-register. Counseling sessions will be held on a regular basis at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. Call the NRV Agency on Aging after October 1st at (540) 980-7720 to schedule an appointment. From discussing the makings of a predator, to talking about common narratives used to lure potential victims, to talking about the dangers of social media, you won’t want to miss this informative discussion. Presentation will include a review of “Money Smart for Older Adults”, designed to provide you with information and tips to help prevent common frauds, scams and other types of elder financial exploitation in your community.
