EIGHT-MILE BRIDGE CHALLENGE WALK Additional Information: Check in begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the walk at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. A shuttle bus departs for the Blacksburg Library at 8:30 a.m. 17 & under must be accompanied by an adult. No animals are permitted on the shuttle bus. Date Time Location Fee Sept. 22 8:15 a.m. Christiansburg Recreation Center & Huckleberry Trail FREE; the walk is limited to the first 70 participants, each participant gets a shirt HUCKLEBERRY HUSTLE 5K “GETTING SCARY ON THE HUCKLEBERRY” Additional Information: The Christiansburg Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the Christiansburg High School to put on this event. No animals are permitted. Strollers (baby jogger, etc.) need to start at the back. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Christiansburg Recreation Center and ends promptly at 8:30 a.m. We have multiple awards for the races including the most creative costume. Trucks from Christiansburg Fire, Police, Rescue and Public Works will be here for kids and kids at heart to look at and touch. Date Time Location Fee Dec. 1 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Christiansburg Recreation Center Booth $50; Table additional $5 CHRISTIANSBURG’S 2018 CHRISTMAS PARADE “SANTA’S TEAM MAKES CHRISTMAS DREAMS” Registration Ends: Friday, November 16 by 5 p.m. to be in the parade Parade Officials: Recreation Staff Additional Information: For all local organizations wanting to participate in the parade, please visit our website or stop by the recreation center to pick up one of our registration forms. All are welcome to attend the parade! In the case of inclement weather, the decision to reschedule the parade will be made at noon on Dec. 14. Date Rain Date Time Location Dec. 14 December 17 7 p.m. Main Street Christiansburg CALLS FROM THE NORTH POLE Ages: 8 and younger Date: Dec. 4 (Dec. 6 if needed) Time: Starting at 5:30 p.m. Additional Information: Christiansburg Parks and Recreation Department has been in contact with the North Pole and everyone including Santa is extremely busy. Santa has agreed to personally call children 8 years old and younger on Dec. 4 starting at 5:30 p.m. For Santa to call, you need to fill out a form located either at the Christiansburg Recreation Center or online at www.christiansburg.org/recreation and return it by Monday, Dec. 3 by 5 p.m. Santa may need more time to call all the children so if you do not receive a call on Dec. 4, you will be called on Dec. 6.
