Girls’ Hockey Zak Jones, Head of Hockey

A young 1st XI were runners-up in the county tournament and won the first round of the south Divisional Tournament, losing the quarter-final to Sir William Borlase. They reached the semi-final of the St George’s Sixes where they were beaten by an extra time golden goal. Their season also included an impressive 8-2 win away at Kimbolton as well as victories over Oxford High, Tudor Hall, Stowe and Pangbourne and creditable away draws with Cheltenham College and Canford. Storm Sunderland was selected for the Mercia Lynx U18 and Jess Lee for the victorious U16 Futures Cup team. The 2nd XI enjoyed a mixed season but recorded good wins against Bradfield, Kimbolton, Tudor Hall and Pangbourne whilst the 3rd XI enjoyed wins over an MCS 2nd XI as well as Stowe and Bloxham. The U16A won both the county title and the first round of the divisional tournament. They also had fine wins against Wellington, Bradfield, Kimbolton, Tudor Hall, Stowe and Bloxham and a draw with Oundle. The B team experienced a tougher season, their only win coming against Bloxham. The U15A had a difficult start to the season but went on to win their last five fixtures, beating Dean Close, Tudor Hall, Stowe, Bloxham and Pangbourne. The U15B recorded the best results in the hockey club with wins over Oundle, Bradfield, Kimbolton, Dean Close, Tudor Hall, Stowe and Pangbourne as well as draws against Cheltenham and Bloxham. The C team managed wins over Cheltenham College, Oundle and Cranford House. The U14A had many close games but their only victory in school fixtures came in their 3-0 win v Pangbourne on the last day of the season, although they also beat Kingham Hill and Rye St Antony in the U14 county tournament.
