It was a tough season for the boys’ 1st V as there were only a handful of games where the best five players were on court - the team had to contend with injuries and some of the players were combining two sports. Horatio Scott Lyon had an exceptional Spring Term by winning the majority of his matches at Number 1 seed, reversing losses in the autumn. Fifth Formers such as James George and James Moore Stanley stepped up to the Senior level with some gutsy performances against players who had had a more significant amount of court time. Highlight wins include Bradfield and Berkhamsted with Edward Beccle coming into his own at number 2 seed. The girls’ V only had a handful of fixtures this season and struggled with a lack of depth but players such as Camila Whittaker and Camille Bonini showed great commitment throughout the two terms. The inaugural Junior Girls’ House Squash Tournament was held in the Spring Term to encourage increased participation in the sport, the trophy kindly donated by OSE Norman Burtt (Apsley 1939- 1943). The Tournament was won by Avenue with Sing’s winning the Junior Boys’ Tournament.
