Chapter 21 – Child Care Centers/Preschools

Young Children (“NAEYC”) it should follow and include the NAEYC minimum standards, including the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, in the preschool’s employee handbook. 2808 E. P ERSONNEL R ECORDS Preschools must keep individual personnel records for each administrator and employee. These personnel records must contain the following information:  Employee’s full name.  Driver’s license number, if the employee will transport children.  Date of employment.  A statement signed by the employee that he or she is at least 18 years of age.  Current home address and phone number.  Documentation evidencing the required educational background, training or experience.  Past experience, including types of employment and former employers.  Duties of the employee.  Termination date if no longer employed by the preschool.  A signed and dated copy of a Notice – Employee Rights (LIC 9052) or a dated notation of the employee’s refusal to sign that form.  The required health screening and report.

 The required tuberculosis test or risk assessment documents.  The required immunization or exemption from immunization documentation.  The required signed statement regarding their criminal record history.  Documentation of either a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption. 2809

 Signed form acknowledging the employee’s awareness of mandated reporting obligations set forth in the Penal Code and the employee’s agreement to comply with those obligations. 2810 Preschools must also maintain a minimum amount of personnel records for all volunteers. These records must include the following:  The required health screening and report.

 The required tuberculosis test or risk assessment documents.  The required immunization or exemption from immunization documentation.
