RECREATION COMMITTEE
The Mechanic Falls Recreation committee is committed to providing our children with exceptional youth sports opportunities. That's why we've continued to partner with the town of
Poland – to ensure our young athletes have the chance to thrive. Here are some of the benefits to our players in the community:
• Guaranteed Participation: We've made sure that, regardless of fluctuating participant numbers, every child in Mechanic Falls has the opportunity to participate in youth sports. This ensures no player is left on the sidelines. • Building RSU16 Community: By joining forces with Poland, our children are building friendships and a sense of community with other RSU16 towns at an early age. This strengthens the larger school community that our children will grow up in. • Resource Efficiency: This partnership allows Mechanic Falls to maximize the use of our resources. By sharing costs and coordinating efforts, we're able to maximize the strengths of both towns. We've also received positive feedback from Mechanic Falls families, confirming that our collaborative efforts are making a difference. This has shown across all sports with teams being more competitive across seasons. The Fall & Spring sports seasons are a HUGE undertaking and it wouldn’t be possible without the combined work of the two
towns. From Mechanic Falls, the volunteer work that Jay Bryant, Andy Coleman, and Jessica Cummings do each year is incredible. From creating standard operating procedures to planning
maintenance and scheduling travel teams, the amount of time, effort, and energy that goes into the programs is amazing. Also, a special thank you to Poland Recreation and Director Scott Segal and Assistant Vanessa Harlow for their hard work coordinating between players, parents, coaches, and officials in the area.
