INSURANCE AND OTHER BENEFITS

HEALTH INSURANCE The City of Spencer provides medical insurance benefits for regular full time employees and pays 100% of the premium cost for each employee enrolled in the program. The City will also pay towards the total cost of a Single +1 Plan or a Family Plan. These amounts will be adjusted when the group medical insurance plan is renewed, based on renewal rates. The employee's’ share of any rate increase shall be determined by subtracting the amount of any increase in single coverage from the amount of the increase in S+1 or Family coverage. The employee shall pay one-half of the product of that calculation. Any decrease in insurance premiums shall be allocated one-half to the employee and one-half to the City. Premium rates are determined by the Plan Administrator. The City has the right to modify, revise, or amend medical and hospitalization benefits each year. A committee consisting of employee representatives, the City Manager, a City Council representative, and the Mayor shall meet when called. This committee will continually seek out ways to reduce costs, avoid abuses, and instigate risk management policies. The City's obligation shall be limited to payment of the costs of the plan in effect. The City pays no medical expense other than plan costs. LIFE INSURANCE The City shall pay the full premium cost for the provision of $10,000 in group term life insurance to include accidental death and dismemberment coverage for each of its full time Tier 1 employees. Said employees will be allowed to designate his/her beneficiary. WELLNESS POLICY The City of Spencer promotes healthy employees and a healthy worksite. The City of Spencer supports a healthy environment where employees can learn and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices. By facilitating learning, through the support and promotion of good nutrition and physical activity, the City can contribute to the improved basic health of its employees. Improved health will optimize employee performance potential and decrease absence. The City of Spencer hereby creates and supports an employee-led well-being advisory committee to create a plan to implement and measure the local wellness policy; monitor it for effectiveness; and provide opportunities for the employees to improve their wellness. The
