CLOTHING ALLOWANCE Each full time fireman and police officer shall receive an initial uniform issue with items listed in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manuals for the Fire Department and the Police Department respectively. Beginning the second year of employment, and every year thereafter, full time firemen shall receive a uniform allowance of $400 per year and full time police officers shall be paid a uniform allowance of $600 per year. Half of the allowance will be paid in full with the first paycheck following the employee’s anniversary date and the second half will be paid six months later. The cost of uniforms damaged on the job, which are replaced, may be reimbursed in addition to annual uniform allowance, if receipts for the purchase are presented to the Department Head. (for public safety employees only) All Full Time Collective Bargaining Employees in the Public Works Department shall be paid a uniform allowance of $300 per year for footwear and clothing required for their job. Half will be paid on July 1 and half will be paid on January 1 following the date of employment. All employees of the Park & Recreation and Golf Course Departments, with the exception of the Golf Course Clubhouse Staff, and Non-Collective Bargaining Public Works Employees (Street Supt, Solid Waste Supt. and Landfill Supt.) shall wear OSHA approved hard toed shoes. Once during each calendar year, the City will reimburse each such employee up to and not to exceed $100.00 for full time employees and $75 for seasonal employees for the purchase of hard toed shoes. Reimbursement will be required by seasonal employees who do not remain employed by the City for one month. The City will pay for and provide safety equipment normally or routinely required or deemed necessary. The quality, quantity and necessity for safety equipment shall be determined by the City Manager after his consultation with the affected Department Heads. All such safety equipment purchased will be used on the job at all times. CITY VEHICLE USE BY EMPLOYEES The following named City employees and officers are considered “on call” and available to respond to emergencies during times other than normal business hours. Accordingly these employees may be assigned a City vehicle.
