The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps(NROTC) unit was established at USD and SDSU in 1981. The purpose of the NROTC program is to provide midshipmen with the ethical and moral standards necessary to be effective leaders in today's Navy and Marine Corps. The San Diego NROTC unit strives to uphold the finest values of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, and is tempered by a standard of excel– lence which can only be found in our nations Armed Forces. The Commanding Officer of the NROTC unit is Captain John S. Boyd, Unites States Navy.
