Mom has an August birthday. Paul bought a gift for her. Paul talked to his big sister Stella about it. “I bought Mom baseball cards,” he said. “I’m not sure that’s good!” replied Stella. “Well, I walked around the mall and didn’t find anything better to get,” explained Paul. “Do you have other thoughts?” “Mom likes her lawn and garden,” Stella told Paul. “Instead of baseball cards, perhaps she might like a straw hat to block the sun.” “That’s a good thought!” nodded Paul. “She also likes to sketch and draw,” Stella pointed out. “Maybe you should have gotten her chalks for her drawing instead of cards.” “Those are also good thoughts,” agreed Paul. Then Stella reminded Paul that Mom taught law classes at a small university. “You might have sought a good teaching gift for her,” Stella said. Paul saw that might be true too.
