EC Meeting Papers January 2019

Entries will be logged via the SOUK Political Literacy portal and participating schools invited to pitch their competition submission LIVE at the ‘Poli-Fest’ event in June/July 2019. The first 4 rounds will be set up as knock out rounds, with schools pitching head to head each time, with the panel picking which school goes through to next round culminating in the final round at the end of the day. The panel will consist of Union reps, teachers, political celebrities and SOUK staff who will pick the final winner. 3 rd , 2 nd and 1 st places to be awarded with 5 days of training at a TU affiliated college/centre and receive a cash prize to kick off their union coffers. All winners will get to be exhibitors on the SOUK platform + become SOUK ambassadors to be used as speakers/reps at GFTU Education Service Youth Festival (Nov 2019), as previously discussed, plus other events. Logistics - Timeline Depending on location of chosen venue, we could invite transport services (e.g. National Express) to support local schools by sponsoring the event with free coach services to and from the event, perhaps including free advertising on the side of said coaches. March - May 2019 – Speakers & partners confirmed June 2019 – Final logistics confirmed and organised Costs/Budget Comprehensive budget will need to be formulated once all above has been agreed. One idea is that the Youth Corps of each major party, industry and organisations could be invited to sponsor the workshops from their outreach budgets, as well as invited to provide speakers for sessions. Promotion can be done via SOUK social media platforms and those of affiliated sponsors and endorsers (e.g. GFTU, Channel 4 and any organisations involved in the festival). A Festival Pack would be required to include information about sponsorship/ endorsement levels, and media partnership levels to make sure the event is well publicised and promoted on all available platforms. January 2019 – Budget confirmed, venue confirmed January - February 2019 – Invitations to Schools sent out
