I Appeal To Caesar!

“Sir,” Saul responds with boldness, “Have you considered that a number of Jews from Jerusalem have fled to Damascus in Syria? We have already checked out the closer towns with synagogues, and Damascus, of course, would be the farthest-out city yet. As you know, there are many Jews and synagogues there. Apparently, a number of Jews that believe in Jesus have fled the persecution in Jerusalem and are now housed there. We could do our work and have no legal restrictions, as you know.” The new suggestion startles Caiaphas at first… but the concept is good! “This idea does have merit,” he thinks, “and this action would have no legal problems!” He smiles slowly, then broadly, as he ponders and entertains this sparkling, new proposition. Before he realizes it, Caiaphas begins to wring his hands in anticipation! His enthusiasm builds, and he becomes so excited he cannot sit still! He paces the floor and claps his hands!

“Why this is brilliant!” he exclaims.

“Certainly!” he declares with finality.

“Take the team to Damascus and arrest and bring back for imprisonment those you uncover. This could possibly end the flight of Jews to other cities, and perhaps even terminate this Jesus cult!
